The
goal of this project was to design, build and test a variable area nozzle
using a Boeing T50-BO-8A turbojet engine. Engineering performed piece-part
design, thermal analysis and generated a 3D CAD model. The nozzle was fabricated
from Inconel 718 and utilized a hydraulic control system to vary nozzle
exit area. The engine/nozzle was tested; data was analyzed and is now currently
being used in laboratory experiments at California Polytechnic State University,
San Luis Obispo.
